There is an ingredient in my products that sounds similar to one on the Blacklist. Should I be avoiding that?

Unless the names are identical, they are likely different from each other. The only thing you should keep in mind is spelling on the same word, for example, Sulphate and Sulfate or Parfume and Parfum, as well as Alcohol and Alkohol. Those cases are mentioned in the "Also Known As" column of the Blacklist.
