We generally recommend prioritising natural food sources over supplements to heal your deficiencies. The nutrients inside of real food are more bioavailable (so you need to consume less to meet you RDA). However, there are a lot of good reasons to supplement as well. For example, maybe you're allergic to a lot of the foods that contain a nutrient or you are vegan and this lifestyle choice makes it hard for you to consume some nutrients. If getting the nutrients you need from food is not an option for you then supplementation is the way to go. Just make sure the products are formulated well and provide high quality nutrients without moving you above the tolerable upper limit.
