What type of practices do low porosity hair types need?

"Here is a sample routine for low porosity hair. You may have to tweak this to account for different hair thickness, scalp conditions, or hair types but it's a great place to start:
1. Detangle with a humectant (e.g. Aloe Vera) before washing.
2. Wash your hair with a moisturizing shampoo. Stay away from anything that says "restructuring" as those contain proteins. Proteins aren't always bad for low porosity hair but we need to be careful with how we deploy them. Using them before conditioning could mean that you lower your porosity even more making it impossible for moisture to enter your strand (same principle for penetrating oil pre-shampoos).
3. Next, follow up with a moisturizing conditioner (look for humectants like glycerine or panthenol), you don't have to stay away from conditioners with oil completely as they will add slip to your hair and prevent further frizz.
You can experiment with conditioners that contain small proteins like hydrolyzed silk protein or amino acids since they can be moisturizing too. However you may find over time that these can build up in the hair strand which is not ideal for low porosity hair, therefore if you are concerned about this, perhaps save this idea for later. What's important is to not go for protein treatments or conditioners with large proteins like hydrolyzed quinoa or wheat, since they will overload your hair with protein quite quickly and can make your hair feel dry and brittle too.
You will also want to avoid cationic conditioners (eg. polyquaternium-xx) and also conditioners that contain oils without humectants. This is because oil can block moisture from entering or exiting your hair which can make our hair feel dryer as well. You can improve the efficacy of your conditioner with heat as it slightly/temporarily increases your porosity. To do this wrap your hair in a towel for the conditioner to do its magic or use steam.
4. Follow up with a sealing oil (like Jojoba Oil) mixed with a humectant for example Flax Seed Gel, Aloe Vera or Okra Gel."
