I'm not sure what a reasonable amount of time is for my SMART goals. Can you help clarify this?

Ultimately, your SMART goals are centered around your hair being healthier, denser and stronger. These things all rely heavily on internal practices that will be discussed later on in the course, such as stress reduction, proper nutrition, increased blood flow, etc. It usually takes three or four months before the effects of these practices will show in our hair, therefore this is generally a great time frame to have.
There are many benefits to external practices as well. For example, finding the perfect conditioner or formulation for your hair profile can help to smooth out your strands, create more shine, add lubricity and so forth. Whilst some students may be able to achieve this quicker than others, it really comes down to how much effort you would like to put into these types of steps or if you simply want to focus on other parts of your routine first.
