It is true that many women do experience hair loss following birth. This is because of two key reasons: - Firstly, you may have noticed that your hair became fuller and thicker in density during pregnancy. This is because the Anagen phase (also known as the 'growing phase') of the Hair Growth Cycle is lengthened due to all the hormonal changes within your body. Once the baby is born, your hormones change again causing you to lose all that hair you grew throughout your pregnancy as the hair's move from the Anagen phase to the Telogen phase. - Secondly, giving birth puts quite a strain on the mother's body. It can be stressful, painful and even quite daunting. This shock can cause Telogen Effluvium which is a temporary hair loss condition that the hair to thin out. Usually once the mother has recovered from the birth, the hair starts to grow back, unless there is another underlying issue that needs to be solved first! To help you combat this issue as much as possible, be sure to incorporate internal practices into your routine will help your body balance your changing hormones and benefit your overall hair health.
