Grey hair can be caused by a few different things:
- Oxidative Stress (UV Rays, Pesticides, Smoking, Inflammation, Pollution, etc.)
- Emotional Stress
- Certain Nutrient Deficiencies (B12, Folic Acid, Iron, etc.)
- Genetics and Age
In order to figure out which of these is causing your greys in the first place, you can ask yourself questions such as:
- Have I been more exposed to the sun lately, without UV protection?
- Am I surrounded by a lot of pollution?
- Have I been under a lot of emotional stress lately?
- Is my diet nutritious and balanced?
- Have other family members gone grey around this same age?
Reversing grey hair is quite a complex topic with very little research to show whether or not it's possible. Our team is consistently looking into it and keeping up with the latest research, but for now it does seem that the younger you are, the more likely it is that you'll be successful in reversing greys.
To prevent further greys, it's crucial to manage stress levels, as stress is such a tremendous cause of grey hair. You also want to be sure to include the following in your diet:
- plenty of antioxidants
- anti-inflammatory foods
- hair-loving nutrients such as protein, iron, zinc, etc.
Also, the amino acid l-tyrosine, which helps with the production of the melanin that colors our skin and hair, can also be very beneficial. You can obtain this through your diet by consuming meat, poultry, fish, cheese, tofu and so forth. There are also supplements available, though bear in mind that these can also affect the colour of your skin.
