We recommend avoiding as much as possible brushing wet hair because it is at this stage that our hair is the weakest and breaks even more easily. However, in the case of curly hair, not only conditioner makes it easier to brush but it also helps to define the curls pre-drying. It's typically a situation where a compromise needs to be made. The ideal if you have to detangle your hair wet is to do it by hand. It feels like a lot of work but once you get the hang of it, it's not so time consuming and it is the best way to feel the strands and avoid breaking it while detangling. You may have to look at a knot for a minute but your hair will thank you for it.
And if you can pre-detangle your hair dry with your hands, a brush or a comb (depends on what you prefer) it's even better so you have less to do when your hair is wet. We have a whole lesson on 'brushing curls' by Pauline in HQL, make sure to check it out <3
