What if it's the amount of Mineral I'm taking now is recommended by the Dr. and it's more than the Recommended Daily Intake?

First of all, do follow the recommendation of your health specialist regarding the supplement of iron. Sometimes you have to take a higher dose than normal of one nutrient if your body doesn’t absorb it efficiently or if you really are so deficient, you need to really get an ‘excess’ to balance it out.
About the risk of reducing the absorption of the other minerals, it will happen if you end up having too much iron in your body. As long as the supplement helps you stay in the healthy range at your own levels, this should normally not cause an imbalance with other minerals.
There an important questions for you to explore/ask your doctor to make sure that your supplement intake doesn’t end up hindering your health and hair:
Is it only a temporary unbalance or is it a recurring condition due to something in your body that makes you absorb this mineral less efficiently than normal people?
If this is just temporary, then you need to keep a close eye to your iron levels to see when to stop with the supplement before it becomes too much.
If it’s a recurring condition, I would ask how much you need to supplement on a regular basis to maintain your levels while making sure it doesn’t go over.
One important thing to say with doctors is that while they are the experts and they won’t recommend something harmful to our health, we’re all unique and how you FEEL is the most important.
Sometimes all our tests come back and they say ‘We’re normal’ but we still feel bad or keep losing our hair. In that case, make sure you keep asking questions and searching what’s up because there IS something to find.
You’re in this community to learn more about all this and I can only encourage you to keep learning, you have way more control than you think over all these things!
