Castile soap can clean your hair, but pure it’s not ideal for daily use. The main issue is that it has a very high pH, around 9 to 10, which can lift the cuticle of your hair. This often leads to frizz, rough texture, and faster color fading. It can also make hair feel dry, tangled, or waxy depending on your hair type. *** To use it safely for better results, we recommend to dilute the pure soap and balance the pH: ** mix one part castile soap with 5 to 10 parts distilled or soft water. Test the pH and adjust it down, adding a few drops of fresh lemon juice. Add drop by drop, mix well and test again until the pH is between 4.5 to 5.5 (ideal for the scalp health). Apply the diluted mix mostly to your scalp and massage it briefly before rinsing it very well. *** Note that this is a very simple recipe and it could miss the extra ingredients needed to bring moisture and smoothness to your hair. Try and see what you prefer!
