A: Low-Level Light Therapy (LLLT) can be helpful for certain types of hair loss, but choosing the right device and knowing what it can realistically do is essential. Firstly, remember that it will work mostly for people who are: In the early phase of pattern hair loss, experiencing gradual miniaturization or mild thinning, looking for an additional supporting device on top of a root-cause plan (nutrition, hormones, scalp care, etc.). If you don’t have a specific hair-growth issue, LLLT won’t transform your hair cosmetically, so we don't recommend it for that.
*** What to look for in a good LLLT device: --- Wavelength: Red light in the 630–670 nm range (most studies use ~650 nm). Optional but beneficial: near-infrared around 800–830 nm.
** Power density: Around 3–15 mW/cm² at the scalp (this is what clinical studies use).
** Coverage: A helmet or cap that covers the entire scalp is more reliable than a handheld comb.
** Consistency is key to have results: To see results, you should use the device 3–4 times per week for 10–20 minutes. Results should show after around 12-24 weeks.
If this technical information is not specified on the product description, it is likely not good to use. Brands with clinically tested devices exist, but the most important thing is that the device follows these scientific parameters, not the brand name.
